HGH another alternative therapy?

To understand how Human Growth Hormone fits into the area of Alternative Medicine and how it is used as an Alternative or Complementary Therapy we must first define what Human Growth Hormone is.

HGH (as it is more commonly known) is a natural hormone present in humans, it is the most common hormone produced by the pituitary gland which is located in the centre of the brain. As we age the level of Human Growth Hormone decreases.

It is estimated that this can be as much as 15% every ten years, in most people, after we reach early middle age.

The human growth hormone is directly connected with every cell, gland, organ, and system of the body so it would seem to make perfect sense to maintain its level, of our earlier years.

The most exciting (and sometimes controversial) claim for HGH is that by keeping the supply of the hormone at something akin to our more youthful level we slow down the aging process and all its many side effects, weight gain, loss of interest in sex, sagging skin and muscles, wrinkled skin lacking in good tone and texture, flagging memory etc.

This is where things start to get interesting and HGH starts to enter the world of self confidence (as opposed to being a drug).

How many times have you heard from your GP or “orthodox” medical practitioner that your current condition is “normal for your age” (who wants to hear that) this is of course in line with the “orthodox” opinion that aging is a natural process that should not be interfered with.

Instead, they attempt to treat the numerous age-related diseases and different age-related symptoms.

The alternative therapists approach is slightly different. Naturopaths and Homeopathic practitioners consider the aging process to be the core of the problem and would begin by treating the process of aging rather than hundreds of possible different medical conditions that come with age.

·  Naturopathy: - A holistic medical system that treats health conditions by utilising the body’s innate ability to heal. Naturopathic therapists use diet, herbs, and other natural methods and substances to cure illness.

·  Homeopathy: - A natural healing system based on the principle of similars or “like cures like”. A method of treating disease with naturally occurring substances
In conclusion HGH must currently be considered an Alternative Therapy until it is prescribed by our “orthodox” medical providers.
